Canaan Patchwork Collection
Canaan’s founder Emmelyn Gunawan’s love of textiles began at a very young age and has since continued on to it’s exploration of Japanese vintage kimono fabrics. Living in Melbourne, Australia during the pandemic Emmelyn was introduced to a Japanese textile collector and through that encounter they collaborated in Canaan’s first patchwork collection. These one of a kind printed silks were produced during the 1920s to early 1950s and are not designed or produced anymore in the present times. Every piece of Canaan’s patchwork shirts, dresses and bottoms are a one-off creation using selected kimono silks that Emmelyn has chosen personally. Each Patchwork Shirt combined three or more printed and solid silk cloths cut following the patterns of the section of the shirt to create a kind of harmonious abstract motifs.
Canaan’s Patchwork Collection is currently only sold at Escalier boutique located at Desa Potato Head, Seminyak Bali. Due it is limited availability of repeated designs each shirt is not available online. However any enquiry of interest can be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org and will be responsed directly by our founder Emmelyn Gunawan.
